The reason why I selected Business and Tourism Management in the UK

Featured

Studying in the UK has always been my dream, but turning that dream into reality was not as easy as I once thought. It requires proper guidance, patience, and most importantly, strong belief in yourself. I am Rayan Rahman Nabil, and I am currently in my 3rd semester of BA (Hons) in Business and Tourism Management at the University of Wolverhampton, enrolled in the January 2025 intake.

Since childhood, I have loved traveling and exploring different tourist destinations such as Cox’s Bazar, Saint Martin’s Island, Sundarbans, and Sylhet in Bangladesh, as well as places like Darjeeling, Kolkata, Shillong, and several places of India. That passion gradually developed into a strong interest in the tourism sector, and I wanted to build my career in this field. At the same time, I also realized that in Bangladesh, the tourism and hospitality sector is growing rapidly and creating increasing demand for skilled professionals, which further motivated me to pursue this field internationally and gain global knowledge and experience.

The UK felt like the perfect place for me because I could actually experience its diverse landscapes and vibrant cities, not just study them from textbooks. I wanted to learn directly from experienced lecturers and professionals in the field and understand how the tourism industry works from a global perspective. I was also looking forward to gaining practical experience through internships and work placements, where classroom knowledge is applied in real situations. Most importantly, I saw the UK as a place that could provide me with a strong education and better career opportunities in the future.

Since I was determined to manage my own expenses, I needed a more affordable option. So, I started exploring universities outside London. So, I started looking at universities outside London. During my research, I considered the University of Central Lancashire and Coventry University. Both universities have good reputations and suitable courses. However, when I compared everything properly, I noticed a few challenges. The tuition fees were a bit higher than my budget, and the overall cost of living felt quite expensive for me. Also, I felt that the course structure was not exactly what I was looking for in terms of combining both business and tourism in a practical way.

  • Strong interest in travel therefore pursued Business & Tourism Management
  • Faced first AI-based interview attempt
  • Offer letter within 4 days
  • Eduvisors helps student to choose the right university, not just any university

During my research and careful consideration of my financial situation and long-term goals I chose the University of Wolverhampton, located near Birmingham which is the second-largest city in the UK by population, but compared to London, it is much more affordable. At the same time, it offers a vibrant environment and a diverse international student community, making it an ideal place for both academic and personal growth. The university of Wolverhampton is recognized as an Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT) Centre of Excellence, and my chosen course is aligned with membership opportunities through the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), which adds significant value to my professional development.

I wanted to consult with a UK-based education consultancy, so I shared this with my father. He suggested a known person of his, Mr. Ali Zabed, the CEO of Eduvisors, a company that works closely with UK universities and is an authorized agent for many of universities. Based on this recommendation, I visited their office with my father and consulted with Mr. Ali Zabed. I also got to know that many students from my hometown had successfully processed their applications through this agency and received their visas, which made me feel more confident and trust the process.

During my visit, Mr. Ali Zabed assigned Counsellor Ms. Anika for my guidance. She clearly explained the entire process and provided me with a complete roadmap from university application to visa. As I had already decided to go for the University of Wolverhampton, I immediately gathered all my documents and submitted my application without delay. Within just four days, I received my unconditional offer letter.

After that, I started preparing for my interview. The process was different from what I had initially expected, as it was an AI-based interview instead of a face-to-face one. I was a bit confused at first, but Ms. Anika guided me throughout the process, and Ms. Jannatul Mawa conducted mock sessions to help me prepare properly.

Despite the preparation, I was very nervous during my first attempt as it was completely new to me. It was a recorded interview where questions appeared on the screen, and I had to answer within a strict time limit. I could not answer some questions properly within the given time, and before I could complete my response, the next question appeared. As a result, I had to retake the interview, as there were some areas I needed to improve, which were also pointed out by the university. That moment was emotionally difficult for me, and I felt really disappointed. However, my agency continued to support me strongly during this difficult time and provided me with longer and more focused preparation sessions. I gave the interview once again and successfully passed it. I was extremely happy and relieved at that moment.

After that, I received my CAS letter within a very short time and proceeded with my visa application. After submitting my biometric, I began preparing for the UKVI interview. Fortunately, I did not have to attend it, and within 20 working days, I received my UK visa. I am truly grateful to Eduvisors for their continuous support throughout my journey. I would especially like to thank CEO Mr. Ali Zabed for his guidance and trust, and Counsellor Ms. Anika for her constant support. Eduvisors always supports me with every steps and most importantly they always take the right decision at right time and their time management system always help the students to move forward very fast.

This decision truly changed my life. Now I am living in Birmingham and have successfully completed two semesters at the University of Wolverhampton. Along with my studies, I am also doing a part-time job in a reputable firm, managing my living expenses, and saving for my tuition fees. From my experience, I believe that the idea that students cannot manage their living costs or save tuition fees through part-time work in the UK is not entirely true. It depends on the location, as well as the student’s hard work, discipline, and dedication. Today, I feel proud of how far I have come. This journey has shown me that success is not always about how fast you reach your goal, but about how consistently you keep moving forward despite failures.
