Rejected, Redirected, and Rewarded: My Journey to Hungary
Featured
I am Maiyan Uddin, and my journey to studying abroad has been anything but simple it has been a story of patience, uncertainty, and ultimately, achievement.
I completed my BSc in Statistics from the National University of Bangladesh in 2023 with a CGPA of 3.37 out of 4.00. Before that, I achieved 4.42 in my HSC (2016) and a perfect 5.00 in my SSC (2014). With a strong academic background, I always had a clear goal: to pursue higher studies abroad and build an international career.
Initially, I was interested in the MSc in International Economy and Business program at the University of Debrecen, Hungary. After completing the assessment process, I applied for the program and paid my application fee on 01 February 2025. However, even after two months of submitting my application, I had not received any update regarding my entrance exam date.
That was a very stressful time for me. I kept checking for updates every day, but there was nothing coming from the university.
Throughout this period, my counsellor from Eduvisors, Erina Akter, was actively supporting me. She continuously communicated with the university and even followed up with higher authorities to get clarity on my application status.

I truly appreciate how my counsellor stood by me during that uncertain phase. She kept pushing for updates and never let me feel ignored.
Eventually, I received an update from the university but it wasn’t what I initially expected. The faculty informed me that I was not accepted into the MSc in International Economy and Business program. Instead, I was offered the opportunity to apply for MSc in Applied Mathematics.

- Faced initial rejection from preferred program but smartly adapted to a better-suited MSc in Applied Mathematics.
- Received dedicated support from Eduvisors and counsellor
- Successfully prepared for and passed the entrance exam within a very short timeframe
- Achieved visa approval within one month with proper guidance and documentation support
At first, I was disappointed. But after carefully reviewing the program, I realized that Applied Mathematics actually aligned very well with my academic background in Statistics. After thoughtful consideration, I decided to move forward with the MSc in Applied Mathematics program. I became fully committed and genuinely excited about this new path.
On May 7th, I finally received my entrance exam date, scheduled for May 22nd. With very limited time, I had to prepare quickly. Thankfully, my counsellor guided me through sample questions and arranged mock sessions. The mock sessions were incredibly helpful. They boosted my confidence and gave me a clear idea of what to expect in the exam.
I appeared for the entrance exam, and within just one day, I received my result I had successfully passed. That moment was a huge relief for me. All the stress and waiting finally paid off.
Soon after, I received my Letter of Acceptance (LOA), and I proceeded with paying my tuition and other necessary fees. The support from Eduvisors continued throughout the next steps as well. My counsellor guided me through visa documentation, file submission, and even the appointment process. The visa process can be overwhelming, but with proper guidance, it became much more manageable for me.

Within one month of submitting my visa application, I received my visa approval. That was one of the happiest moments of my life. It felt like everything I worked for had finally come together.
Today, I am successfully studying in Hungary and attending my classes at the University of Debrecen. Looking back, this journey taught me patience, adaptability, and trust in the process. Things may not always go as planned, but sometimes the alternative path turns out to be even better.
This is not just my academic journey, it is a story of resilience, support, and believing in new opportunities.
