How I Moved from University of Dhaka to University of Wolverhampton for Public Health Research

Featured

My name is Taslima Akter Sathi, a student of Master’s by Research in Public Health at the University of Wolverhampton. I would like to share my journey from Bangladesh to the United Kingdom a journey shaped by ambition, curiosity, and determination.

Studying abroad has always been more than just a goal for me, it has been a dream since childhood. I was always eager to explore opportunities beyond Bangladesh, to experience a different academic environment, and to grow both personally and professionally. Today, I am proud to say that I am pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health Research in the UK, turning that long-held dream into reality.

My academic journey began in the field of Psychology at the University of Dhaka. During my studies, I developed a strong interest in understanding human behavior, mental health, and the broader social factors that influence well-being. After completing my degree, I worked as a school counselor at an English-medium school, where I gained practical experience in supporting students’ mental and emotional health. Throughout my academic and professional life, research has been a central focus.

I researched chronic stress and its impact on the immune system, and I also developed my own research proposals. These experiences strengthened my analytical skills and deepened my interest in public health, particularly in understanding how psychological and physical health are interconnected. With this background, I felt fully prepared to pursue my dream of studying abroad. My growing research interest motivated me to seek opportunities beyond my home country.

After extensive research, I found UK, as an ideal destination due to its rich history in the health sector, from early public health reforms to the establishment of the National Health Service (NHS). This legacy, combined with the UK’s commitment to innovation and amazing research, makes it a global leader in health education. Looking ahead, I aspire to build a meaningful career in the field of health research, where I can contribute to improving community health and well-being, particularly in developing countries like Bangladesh. When I finally decided to apply to the UK, I knew I needed proper guidance. I started searching for education agents and visited several offices in Dhaka. Unfortunately, my initial experiences were disappointing. Many agencies couldn’t provide clear information about research-based programs, and some seemed more interested in collecting documents than actually guiding students. It felt rushed, impersonal, and, at times, unprofessional.

  • Academic background in Psychology into transitioned to Public Health
  • Offer secured without hassle from University of Wolverhampton
  • Guidance verified by student through university website

Eventually, I connected with another agent who collected my documents, but they couldn’t clearly advise me on which course aligned with my goals. They promised updates within two days, but after a long wait, I heard nothing back. That period was frustrating and discouraging. I began to question whether I was on the right path at all.

Determined not to give up, I went back to researching on my own. This time, I was more careful and focused. While searching online, I came across Eduvisors, who are ranked as a certified UK university agent, and decided to visit their office. To be honest, I didn’t expect anything different from my previous experiences, but I was wrong. From the moment I walked in, I noticed the difference. The environment was welcoming, and the counselors were patient, attentive, and genuinely interested in understanding my goals.

After carefully reviewing my academic background and research interests, their counselor, Ms. Humayra Ramisa, suggested that I should apply for a Master’s by Research in Public Health at the University of Wolverhampton. She clearly explained the course structure, its research focus, and the opportunities it could offer in the future. She also guided me through the course structure, including how I would work closely with a supervisor, develop my own research project, and gain practical experience in addressing public health challenges. In addition, she clearly outlined the potential career pathways after graduation, such as opportunities in research, policy-making, and the global public health sector, which helped me understand how the program aligns with my long-term ambitions.

This time, I didn’t rely solely on their advice, I did my own research as well. I checked the university’s official website and verified everything. Their guidance was accurate and transparent, which gave me confidence in their professionalism. That’s when I decided to move forward with Eduvisors.

Throughout the application process, they were supportive and responsive. I received my offer letter without any hassle. When it came to interview preparation, they guided me thoroughly. However, I made a mistake, I tried to memorize answers instead of understanding them.

But Ms. Mawa patiently guided me again, encouraging me to be natural and trust my understanding rather than memorization. I followed their advice, prepared in a more genuine way, and approached my interview with confidence and I succeeded. After that, everything moved smoothly. I paid my tuition fees, received my CAS letter on time, and completed my visa application with their support. They guided me through every step documents, payments, and procedures making the entire process much easier than I had imagined. Within just 14 working days, I received my visa. It was January 2025 intake.

Looking back, I realize that this journey was not just about reaching the UK it was about learning, adapting, and growing. I made mistakes, faced uncertainty, and felt lost at times, but I also learned the importance of patience and choosing the right guidance at the right time.

Today, I am living the dream I once held as a child. Alongside my studies, I am working in the counselling sector and actively engaging in research with my course coordinator at the University of Wolverhampton. I am also preparing to publish my own research paper something I once only imagined. I am truly grateful to Eduvisors for being part of this journey and helping me find the right path when I needed it the most.
