From Mymensingh to Hungary: A Journey to Computer Science at the University of Debrecen

Featured

I am Tanzim Ahamed Uday, from Mymensingh, Bangladesh, and I am currently pursuing Computer Science and Engineering, BSc at the University of Debrecen, Hungary. Since childhood, I have been passionate about science and technology, always eager to understand how things work and how innovation can shape the future. This passion eventually led me to choose Computer Science and Engineering as my field of study, where I can combine my interest in technological innovation to build a successful career in the world of technology. After completing my HSC, I started thinking seriously about studying abroad. I wanted to pursue higher education in an international environment, but I had very little knowledge about the application process, suitable destinations, or how to get started. Like many students, I spent hours scrolling through Facebook, joining study abroad groups, watching student experiences, and searching for an agency that I could trust.

During this time, I came across Eduvisors through social media. I decided to contact them and discuss my plans. They suggested me several study destinations and explained the opportunities available in each country. After considering all the options, I chose Hungary because of its high quality education, affordable tuition fees and living costs, and growing reputation among international students. Their guidance helped me evaluate my options and choose a destination that aligned with both my academic ambitions and personal circumstances.

They also introduced me to several reputable universities in Hungary. After my own research, I chose the University of Debrecen because it is one of Hungary’s oldest and most prestigious universities, renowned for its academic excellence, strong international reputation, and diverse student community. I believed it would provide the ideal environment to pursue my studies in Computer Science and Engineering and support my future career aspirations.

One of the main reasons I wanted to pursue my studies abroad as early as possible was due to certain family circumstances I had to begin my international education journey without delay. While exploring undergraduate study options in Hungary, I discovered that direct admission to Bachelor’s programs, particularly at the University of Debrecen, was not available for the February intake.

  • Discovered Eduvisors through social media while researching study abroad options
  • Chose Hungary for its quality education and affordable tuition and living costs
  • Achieved an IELTS overall score of 6.0
  • Currently pursuing Computer Science and Engineering while working part time in Budapest

The International Foundation Semester was the only available pathway at that time. I also explored other universities in Hungary, but I was unable to find a suitable Bachelor’s intake that matched my timeline and academic goals.

As a result, I decided to enroll in the International Foundation Semester for the February 2025 intake. Now, I realize that this was a valuable decision. The program provided a smooth transition into higher education in Hungary, strengthened my academic foundation, and helped me adapt to a new educational system and cultural environment.

Most importantly, it allowed me to take the first step toward my long term goal of studying Computer Science and Engineering without postponing my plans.

To prepare for my studies abroad, I took the IELTS examination and achieved an overall score of 6.0. After receiving my result, I proceeded with my application without delay. Due to my strong academic performance in both SSC and HSC, I was exempted from the entrance examination requirement. I submitted my application, paid the application fee, and received my offer letter from the University of Debrecen shortly afterward. Then, I completed the tuition fee payment and began preparing for the next stage of my journey.

During this process, I realized that studying abroad involves much more than securing admission. There were huge financial and supporting documents that needed to be prepared, and I had limited knowledge of these requirements. Fortunately, Eduvisors provided continuous guidance throughout the entire process. Their team assisted me in preparing the necessary documents, understanding the visa requirements, and ensuring that everything was submitted accurately and on time.

With their support, I successfully submitted my visa application and attended my visa interview. Although I was confident in my academic background and the strength of my application, I was still quite anxious about the outcome.

Since I was applying through the International Foundation Semester rather than directly to a Bachelor’s program, I was uncertain about how my application would be assessed. After what felt like a long wait, I finally received the news I had been hoping for. My visa was approved. It was a moment of relief, happiness, and excitement for both me and my family.

At present, I have been living in Hungary for more than a year and continuing my studies here. I am currently staying in Budapest and regularly attending my classes. Alongside my studies, I am also doing a part-time job to support my living expenses. This has helped me become more independent and better at managing my time between work and academics.

Living and studying in Hungary has been a transformative experience for me. I am continuously adapting to a new academic system, diverse culture, and international environment, while also improving my technical knowledge in Computer Science and Engineering.
