This One Mistake Destroyed My UK Dream

Featured

Myself Marjia. My hometown is Naogaon, Sunamganj. I am a research student, studying a Master’s by Research in International Relations at the University of Wolverhampton. Additionally, I am a wife and a mother of a 3-year-old baby. I am successfully leading my life in the United Kingdom right now. I reside in Birmingham, in an area near my university.

My journey started in January 2025, and that was the success of my aim. However, before that, I was totally disappointed. The reason goes back one year earlier, January 2024 when I first attempted to apply for a UK Student visa. Unfortunately, the situation was not in my favor. At that time, I was not aware that universities have their own authorized agents. This lack of knowledge misled me. Initially, I contacted an agent without checking anything, the agent persuaded me very well, and I trusted them.

But I was totally unaware that they were not directly connected with the university. But they claimed they were authorized, but I didn’t check the university website where the agents’ names are listed.

I submitted all my documents based on their instructions. However, they were very unorganized regarding my paperwork. They had very little knowledge and were actually working through another agent for the application process. I received my offer letter very late. They did not provide a proper timeline, and their guidance during my visa application was poor. Because of all these issues delays, lack of proper coordination, and weak follow-up, my visa application was submitted late. As a result, the university withdrew my CAS after the deadline, and I received a rejection. That was one of the worst experiences of my life.

After that rejection, I, along with my family, was devastated both mentally and financially. I was unable to take any decision. Somehow, almost a long time passed, but that aim to study abroad was pushing me. I made a decision to apply again for the next intake. This time, I carefully researched and listed universities which are well aligned in terms of location, facilities, good environment, financially flexible, and research-focused. I selected the University of Wolverhampton. This time, I was very careful Within seven days of applying, I received my unconditional offer letter. I visited their office at Mohakhali DOHS, Dhaka. One of their counsellors, Humayra Ramisa, met me. She listened to my full case.

  • Faced a UK visa rejection in 2024, then successfully secured a visa in 2025.
  • Misled by unauthorized agent initially
  • Recommended Research-based IR program
  • Structured and logical response preparation
  • Helped improve accent clarity and fluency

Their professionalism and proper instructions proved their strong experience in this field. She suggested that, as my visa rejection was recent, it would be very risky for me to apply again so early. She advised me either to take an administrative review or apply after one intake, which means one year later. I was not ready for an administrative review at that time, and after proper discussion with her, I decided to apply in January 2025.

My background was in BBA. After completing my degree, I joined an NGO working in the development sector as a researcher. Although I come from a business background, over time I became very enthusiastic about research, especially in areas like development, human rights, and migration.

I developed a strong interest in building my career in this sector, and I aim to secure a good position in reputed organizations in Bangladesh or international organizations like United Nations, where I can work in research, advocacy, and program coordination. After hearing about my background, experience, and future goals, Eduvisors suggested that I should pursue a Master by Research in International Relations.

This course is strongly aligned with my career aims, as it focuses on global issues such as migration, human rights, and international development. It also provides advanced research skills, which are essential for working in NGOs and international organizations. While working in my organization, I also developed some research proposals on my own. With their guidance, I then proceeded with my application. Within seven days of applying, I received my unconditional offer letter.

The next stage was my pre-CAS interview. Initially, I faced some challenges with my accent, as sometimes my Sylheti accent mixed into my speaking, which made me feel a bit complex. However, gradually I became more confident. They arranged several mock sessions for specially their expert mock instructor Ms. Mawa helped me a lot through these practice sessions, which significantly improved my fluency level.

Then I successfully passed my interview. Eduvisors made strong efforts to receive my CAS letter as quickly as possible. At that time, the Christmas holiday in the UK was very close, so it was quite urgent to get the CAS before the holidays began. They followed up with the university regularly and managed to secure my CAS just before the holiday period. As soon as I received my CAS, I started my visa application with their proper guidance. Since I had already faced one UK visa rejection, I was very anxious about the process. I was afraid that if I made any mistake again, my visa might be rejected. However, Eduvisors clear and professional guidance helped me a lot, and I was able to complete my application correctly. One important part was explaining the reason for my previous visa refusal. With my agent’s support, I was able to clearly and properly present the issue. After submitting my application, I was again mentored by Ms. Mawa for my UKVI interview.

Study in Australia from Bangladesh

After 15 days, I received my UKVI interview date. During the interview, I needed to clearly explain my research interests as well as the background of my previous rejection. I followed Eduvisors guidance and instructions carefully, which helped me build confidence and present logical and well-structured answers. By the grace of Allah, my interview went very well. Finally, after 10 working days, I received my successful visa.

Studying abroad is a dream for many students. Visa success feels amazing, but rejection can be truly heartbreaking. It brings both financial pressure and emotional stress. To avoid such situations, no one should be misled. The mistakes I made should not be repeated by others. From my experience, I have learned that proper research and the right guidance are the keys to visa success. Even if you face rejection, it is not the end if you try again with the correct approach and support, you can achieve your dream.
