From Bangladesh to Hungary to Chase a Bigger Dream
Featured
My name is Md Fatin Istiak, and if there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s that growth begins the moment you decide to step outside your comfort zone.
I started my academic journey in Bangladesh, completing my B.Sc. in Textile Engineering from BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology. Like many graduates, I stepped directly into the workforce. I joined Ha-Meem Group as a trainee merchandiser and later worked at Standard Group. My role gave me hands-on experience in product development, buyer communication, and managing deadlines in a fast-paced industry.
At first, I was proud of how far I had come. But after some time, I began to feel that something was missing. I was gaining experience, but I wasn’t growing in the direction I truly wanted. I noticed how decisions were made by managers and leaders, and I realized I wanted to be in those positions leading teams, making strategic decisions, and contributing at a higher level.
That’s when I decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Management and Leadership.

Choosing a country was one of the most important decisions I had to make. I explored several options, but Hungary stood out to me for a few reasons. First, it offered affordable tuition fees compared to many other European countries.
As an international student, financial planning was a major concern for me. Second, Hungary provides a globally recognized education system within the European Union, which means better exposure and future opportunities.
After researching different universities, I chose Eszterhazy Karoly Catholic University for my MA in Management and Leadership for the September 2025 intake.

- Selected Hungary for its affordable tuition fees and globally recognized European education system
- Chose Eszterhazy Karoly Catholic University for its practical, leadership-focused curriculum
- Received continuous guidance and support from Eduvisors throughout the application process
- Experienced a multicultural learning environment with students from diverse international backgrounds
- Built a clearer vision for future leadership roles and career advancement
The course structure was the most interesting factor to me. It wasn’t just theoretical, it focused on real-world leadership skills, critical thinking, and decision-making. I knew this program would help me transition from a technical role in textiles to a managerial position in the future.
For me, it felt like the perfect bridge between where I was and where I wanted to go. I won’t say the journey was easy it wasn’t.
One of my biggest challenges was managing everything at once. I was working full-time while preparing my application. After long office hours, I had to focus on documents, statements, and university requirements. It was exhausting. Financial pressure was another major concern. Planning for tuition fees, living costs, and visa requirements required careful budgeting and constant thinking.
At the same time, I received strong guidance from Eduvisors. Honestly, without them, the process would have been much more difficult. My counsellor helped me at every step from choosing the right university to preparing my documents and guiding me through the visa process. Whenever I felt confused or stressed, they were there to clarify things and keep me on track. Their support gave me confidence and made the entire journey more manageable.
Then came the waiting period for my visa decision. That phase was mentally stressful. I had already invested so much time and effort, and the uncertainty made it even harder. There were moments when I doubted myself. I wondered if I was making the right decision or if everything would work out. What kept me going was my mindset and the support system around me. My work experience had already taught me how to handle pressure, meet deadlines, and stay committed. I used those same skills during my application journey.

When I finally arrived in Hungary, it felt like a new chapter of my life had begun.
Of course, the beginning wasn’t easy. Everything was new, the environment, the culture, the education system. I had to adjust to a different way of learning, where participation, presentations, and critical thinking are highly valued.
At Eszterhazy Karoly Catholic University, I found a very supportive academic environment. The classes are interactive, and I get to learn from students from different countries. This has helped me improve not just academically, but also personally. Living here has also made me more independent. I’ve learned how to manage my time, finances, and responsibilities on my own. Outside of my studies, I’ve had the chance to explore new places and cultures. Traveling across Europe has always been a dream for me, and now I’m finally experiencing it.
Today, I feel more confident about my future than ever before. This journey has changed me. It has taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of taking risks.
If I look back at where I started, I can clearly see how far I’ve come. And I know this is just the beginning.
