A Medical Professional's Journey from Dental Surgery to UK Master's in Global Business

Featured

Sometimes life quietly redirects you. Not because you failed in one path, but because you are meant to grow into something bigger.

Myself Iffat Ara Jahan, and currently I am pursuing a Master’s by Research in International Business at the University of Gloucestershire. Alongside my academic journey, I serve as a Campus Ambassador and Welfare and Diversity Officer roles that allow me to represent, support, and connect with a diverse student community. But my story didn’t begin in business. It began in a completely different world dentistry.

Let’s look back, I completed my Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Dhaka and fully immersed myself in the healthcare sector. I worked in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) at Dhaka Medical College Hospital under the Department of Anesthesiology, and later as a Medical Officer in the Pedodontics Department at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib University Hospital (BSMMUH). At that time, my life was structured, purposeful, and clearly aligned with the dental profession.

Coming from a business-oriented family, I was always aware of another path waiting for me. My father strongly believed that I should eventually take part in our family business. At first, this idea felt like stepping into an entirely different identity. Dentistry had given me confidence and stability, business felt uncertain, abstract, and unfamiliar. Yet, the more I reflected, the more I realized I didn’t want just a basic transition I wanted a meaningful one.

Study in Australia from Bangladesh

I wanted to understand business deeply, from a research perspective, not just practice it. Even before returning Bangladesh, I had a long-term vision of pursuing a PhD. I started drafting research ideas and proposals, trying to connect my analytical mindset from healthcare with global business challenges. That preparation naturally led me toward choosing a Master’s by Research instead of a traditional taught program. That’s when the real challenge began finding the right guidance.

  • Transition from healthcare into business & research
  • Inspired by family business background
  • Eduvisors helped to refine and strengthen research ideas
  • Eduvisors provides clear checklist-based guidance

I spoke with several education consultancies in Dhaka. Many were quick, some were persuasive, but very few were genuinely attentive. Eduvisors was different from the very beginning. They didn’t rush me. Instead, they listened, really listened to my unusual background and my research ambitions. I still remember one moment quite clearly. I sent their assigned counselor Ms. Humayra Ramisa, my first rough research idea, thinking it was already quite impressive. This is a good start, but we can make it much stronger. At that moment, I realized I was not just another application for them I was a project they genuinely wanted to refine.

From there, the process became surprisingly smooth, though not without a few memorable moments. Eduvisors suggested the Master’s by Research in International Business at the University of Gloucestershire because it perfectly matched my goal of developing strong research skills and preparing for a future PhD. The program offers the flexibility to explore independent research, allowing me to connect my unique background in healthcare with global business perspectives. It also provides close academic supervision, which is essential for building a solid foundation in research.

Documentation, at first, felt overwhelming, academic certificates, transcripts, personal statements, research proposals everything needed to be accurate and well-presented. What truly made the difference was how Eduvisors actively supported me in preparing these documents. They didn’t just review my work, they guided me in structuring my documents, refining my research proposal, establishing the statement of purpose and ensuring every detail met the required standard.

I remember thinking I had completed everything perfectly, but when they went through my files, they carefully suggested improvements and helped me polish each version further. What I initially saw as “final” was actually just a draft, and with their help, it became much stronger and more professional. Looking back, their support and attention to detail didn’t just reduce my stress, it significantly improved the overall quality of my application and helped me avoid delays.

Their support during the CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) process was equally crucial. They guided me step by step ensuring my financial documents were accurate, my information matched perfectly, and nothing was left incomplete. They followed up multiple times with the university when timelines felt uncertain. There were moments when I would anxiously check my email every hour, while they calmly reassured me, We have already contacted the university, just give it a little time. That reassurance made a huge difference. And then came the visa stage the part every student secretly fears.

Instead of confusion, I had a checklist. Instead of guessing, I had clear instructions. They reviewed my documents multiple times, prepared me for possible questions, and made sure I understood each step. At one point, I was so nervous that I double-checked my file almost ten times. That’s good, but now trust the process. That balance between precision and confidence was something I truly needed.

Eventually, everything came together and I arrived in the UK. The University of Gloucestershire has been more than just an academic institution for me. It has become a space where I can grow intellectually and personally. As a research student, I have the freedom to explore ideas deeply, challenge assumptions, and prepare myself for my ultimate goal pursuing a PhD. My roles as a Campus Ambassador and Welfare and Diversity Officer have added another dimension to my experience. I am not only learning I am contributing, leading, and engaging with a global community. Every interaction, every event, and every conversation add to my journey.

The analytical thinking, discipline, and resilience I developed in healthcare now support my research and business studies. What made this journey truly possible was the combination of the right mindset, the right institution, and the right guidance. Eduvisors didn’t just process my application they refined my vision, handled complexities with precision, and stood by me at every step, even in moments of confusion and last-minute panic. And the University of Gloucestershire didn’t just offer me a degree it gave me a platform to transform, explore, and move closer to my long-term academic goals.
