"The Moment I Thought It Was Over, My Study Abroad Journey Began Again"- Tasnim Parvez

Featured

I am M Tasnim Parvez, and I am currently studying BSc (Hons) Cybersecurity with Sandwich Placement at the University of Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom. My course started on 16 September 2024 and will continue until 31 May 2028. When I look back at my journey, it feels like a story shaped by uncertainty, courage, and the willingness to take risks at the right time.

I come from Cumilla, although my family and I later settled in Dhaka. Growing up in Bangladesh gave me strong roots and values, but at the same time, I often felt that our education system lacked the advanced technological exposure and practical learning environment needed to compete globally. This realization gradually shaped my dream of studying abroad, where I could access better resources, modern facilities, and a more dynamic academic culture. I completed my GCSEs in 2021 and my GCE Advanced Levels in 2023. At that stage, my parents were thinking deeply about my future, and I, too, had a strong desire to earn a degree from a prestigious university. I believed that studying abroad would not only improve my academic knowledge but also help me develop skills that would prepare me for the global job market. To begin that journey, I prepared for IELTS and successfully achieved an overall band score of 7. That result opened the door to my next chapter.

Together with my family, I chose the United Kingdom as my study destination. The UK has always been known for its rich academic heritage, internationally recognized degrees, and diverse culture. It felt like the perfect place to grow both academically and personally. However, since my A-Level qualifications did not fully meet the requirements for direct entry into a bachelor’s program, I decided to take a pathway route. I enrolled in an International Foundation Year followed by a BSc in Computer Science at Coventry University, with the course starting on 2 January 2024.

Securing my visa and arriving in the UK were two of the biggest milestones of my life. I still remember the excitement and hope I felt when I first stepped into the UK. It was the beginning of a dream I had carried for years. I started my studies with full dedication, believing that everything was going according to plan. However, life has its own way of testing us. As I approached the final stage of my foundation year, I had to think about progressing into the bachelor’s program. That was when I began to realize that the tuition fees at Coventry University were quite high for my family to manage over the entire duration of the course. It was not an easy realization, because I had already built a clear plan in my mind. But sometimes, even the best plans need to change.

I remembered the quote by Robert Burns, “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” It felt very real at that moment. I knew I had to find an alternative solution without giving up on my dream. After extensive research, I discovered that the University of Wolverhampton offered a BSc program in Cybersecurity with more affordable tuition fees. The course aligned perfectly with my interests and abilities.

Even though I had found a potential solution, the process of changing universities as an international student already in the UK was extremely confusing. I had no clear idea whether it was possible, whether I needed to return to Bangladesh, or how the visa process would work. The uncertainty created a lot of stress and anxiety. It felt like I was standing at a crossroads without a clear direction. During this difficult time, I realized how important proper guidance is. While searching for the best guidance, I contacted several consultancy firms to seek advice about my situation. Unfortunately, I struggled to gain confidence in most of them. Many consultancies asked me to visit their offices in the UK before they would provide any detailed information or solutions. However, due to my busy schedule and part-time job commitments, it was difficult for me to travel to their offices just to explain my situation. Some of them also lacked the professionalism and expertise required to provide a proper solution for my case. They seemed quite uncertain about my visa options and course selection at University of Wolverhampton.

With their expert guidance, I applied to the University of Wolverhampton for BSc (Hons) Cybersecurity with Sandwich Placement. Most interestingly, I initially searched for several courses on my own and shared them with Eduvisors. However, their counsellor, Humaira Ramisa, reached out to me and took a more personalized approach by asking about my future career goals. Based on this, she conducted thorough research and recommended the BSc (Hons) Cybersecurity with Sandwich Placement programme, as it aligned perfectly with my ambitions. She explained that cybersecurity is one of the fastest growing fields globally, with increasing demand due to rising digital security threats. According to her, this course would help me develop strong technical skills and significantly enhance my employability in a highly competitive job market. In addition, she provided a detailed explanation of the course structure, highlighting how the modules are designed to build both foundational and advanced computing skills.

Her professionalism and in-depth knowledge were highly impressive and played a key role in strengthening my decision. The process felt overwhelming at first because I needed a new CAS letter and had to change my sponsor. On top of that, time was running out, it was already September, and I worried about missing the intake.

Despite all the challenges, within just one week, Eduvisors secured my offer letter. They immediately arranged my interview, working closely with the university to ensure everything was on track despite the tight schedule. Knowing my case was complex and the interview could be challenging, they prepared me tirelessly with multiple mock tests and detailed guidance until I was completely confident without any fixed time. Finally, after receiving thorough mock interview preparation from EDUVISORS, I attended my interview and successfully passed it. Their support turned a stressful, high-pressure situation into a smooth and manageable process.

As I mentioned before, there was a conflict about whether I needed to return to Bangladesh or not. The issue was eventually resolved by my agent. Since my case was quite complex, they carefully followed all the regulations and consulted closely with the university. Based on the university’s guidance, they informed me on time that I needed to return to Bangladesh to apply for a new visa, as changing my university meant changing my sponsor. This was also another challenge for me. I had to quickly book a flight and return home.

Back in Bangladesh, I prepared my documents carefully with the help of Eduvisors and submitted my visa application. It was a very stressful time for me because even a small mistake could cause rejection. But their experience and support gave me confidence. They checked all my documents carefully, and with their guidance, I was able to submit everything correctly. Within, seven days, I received my UK visa. It was a moment of pure relief and happiness. I still remember how I found out, I was asleep when the visa decision email arrived late at night, and my counselor informed me immediately. That moment showed how dedicated and supportive they were throughout my journey. They understood how anxious and stressed my family and I were at that time, so they made sure to inform me right away to help me feel relieved and finally free from tension.

Although I had to bear additional costs for visa fees and health surcharge, I realized that this short-term expense would save me from much higher costs in the long run. It was a difficult decision, but it turned out to be the right one. I soon returned to the UK and successfully enrolled at the University of Wolverhampton. Today, I am living in Birmingham city, continuing my studies while managing a part-time job. The city is lively and multicultural. It is giving me the chance to meet people from all over the world and learn from different cultures.  Life feels stable, productive, and full of possibilities here.

When I look back, I realize that this journey was not just about changing universities, it was about learning to adapt, take risks, and believe in myself during uncertain times. The challenges I faced made me stronger and more confident. If there is one thing I would say to future students, it is this, do not be afraid of challenges. Sometimes, the path to success is not straightforward. You may have to change plans, take risks. But with the right choice and proper guidance, everything becomes possible. For me, taking that one bold decision and choose the right guidance changed everything. It turned a stressful and confusing situation into a success story. And today, I can proudly say that every challenge I faced was worth it. I would like to sincerely thank Eduvisors for their constant support, guidance, and dedication throughout my entire journey. For anyone planning to study abroad, always try to choose the best guidance and support to make your path easier and more successful.
